When having any gas work (both on gas pipework and gas fired appliances) in your house carried out it is imperative that you use a Gas Safe registered engineer.
Gas fired appliances include central heating boilers, including combination/combi boilers, heat only boilers and system boilers, gas fires, gas cookers, warm air central heating, gas fired wall heaters, patio heaters, unvented gas fired hot water cylinders amongst others.
A Gas Safe engineer will have the appropriate knowledge and equipment to install, service and repair both your gas fired appliances and pipework correctly and safely.
A gas safe engineer will carry out all nescassary checks to ensure your appliances are operating efficiently, safely and within the acceptable tolerances of the manufacturer. Upon discovering an unsafe situation, a gas sage engineer will be able to take the correct steps to ensure you, those you live with and your property are safe.
A gas safe engineer will also be able to explain potential warning signs of an appliance operating dangerously. Carbon monoxide has no odour and, as a result, can be incredibly dangerous as it cannot be detected without assistance. It is strongly suggested that you get all of your gas appliances, including your gas boiler and gas fire, serviced annually and that you have an appropriate number of carbon monoxide alarms fitted to keep you safe and give you piece of mind.
Remember: Just because an appliance is working doesn't mean it's working safely.
Never cut corners with gas safety!
